Jakarta — President Prabowo Subianto is said to have listened to every input and critique as he hosted former presidents, former vice presidents and party leaders at a meeting at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday evening, 3 March 2026.

Attendees included the 7th President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and the 6th President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), as well as the 10th and 12th Vice Presidents Jusuf Kalla (JK) and Ma’ruf Amin. Ahmad Muzani, the Speaker of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR), said this at the Presidential Complex in Jakarta on Wednesday, 4 March 2026.

“From President Jokowi, President SBY, former Vice President JK, former Vice President Ma’ruf Amin, and several former foreign ministers also conveyed their views,” he said.

“Some of the views were critical and sharp, some were suggestions, and some views were more thoughts; and all of those views were received by the president well.”

In fact, each input or critique was used as a reference for decision‑making.

“The president received the views gladly and as inputs that he used as references in taking decisions,” Muzani said.

According to Muzani, the meeting between Prabowo and the former presidents up to party leaders was cordial and familial.

“Last night’s meeting, I think, depicted a gathering that was very cordial, very familial, with occasional jests; the atmosphere was very good,” he said.

Against the backdrop of the expanding Middle East conflict, Prabowo also urged Indonesia to maintain unity and cohesion.

“Because the global situation today makes people think in their own ways, which has the potential to damage our harmony, camaraderie, and cohesion as a nation and for the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI),” Muzani said.

Muzani added that the Head of State also sets an example in safeguarding unity.

“Therefore, the President always says that what he does is for the nation and the state, to safeguard unity, to protect the integrity of NKRI and the Republic of Indonesia,” he added.
