MPR Chairman Ahmad Muzani stated that China is one of the countries frequently referenced in development matters. He said this is reflected in survey results.

Muzani mentioned a national survey conducted from 4-12 March 2026, which showed that respondents consider China as a country that can serve as an example for Indonesia’s future development.

“The survey proves that the People’s Republic of China received 28.2 percent as a country that can be used as a development role model,” said Muzani at the launch event of the book ‘Xi Jinping: The Governance of China (Volume V)’ at the Mulia Hotel, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday (28/4/2026).

He assessed that the high figure indicates China’s success in economic growth. According to him, many countries are beginning to pay attention to the effectiveness of China’s development.

“Many observers are starting to question the effectiveness of democracy in the West, as it is deemed not always able to deliver prosperity and equity. Meanwhile, China is considered successful in maintaining growth, stability, and justice,” he stated.

Muzani also highlighted China’s success in eradicating poverty amid a population exceeding 1.4 billion people. He called this achievement a major accomplishment.

“With such a large population, China is able to maintain stability and improve welfare. This is something important to learn from,” he said.

According to Muzani, Indonesia needs to take lessons from China’s experiences. However, he emphasised that every country has different challenges in development.

“There is no compulsion to imitate. We can take what suits Indonesia’s values, culture, and needs,” he concluded.
