Muzani Reveals Latest Presidential Directive from Prabowo on Sumatera Disaster Response

MPR Chairman Ahmad Muzani disclosed President Prabowo Subianto’s directives regarding disaster relief operations in Sumatera. Muzani stated that Prabowo has instructed that affected populations be assisted swiftly.

“I believe the President has directed that affected communities be handled quickly,” said Muzani after distributing aid to disaster victims at the Office of the North Sumatera Governor in Medan, North Sumatera, on Wednesday evening, 11 March 2026.

Muzani further stated that Prabowo has also urged the Head of the Task Force for Acceleration of Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction in Sumatera, who also serves as Interior Minister Tito Karnavian, to coordinate with relevant ministries and local governments.

“He (Prabowo) is urging the task force head, in this case Mr Tito, and all relevant ministries to coordinate with governors and regents and mayors of affected areas,” he said.

Muzani disclosed that he had also held discussions with North Sumatera Governor Bobby Nasution regarding the acceleration of recovery in disaster-affected regions. He noted that these discussions focused on efforts to expedite reconstruction and rehabilitation in several affected districts.

“Earlier, I and the Governor discussed extensively the efforts to accelerate reconstruction and rehabilitation in districts that have been affected by this disaster,” he stated.

“We will push forward what is expected by provincial and district governments in coordination with relevant ministries, particularly with the head of the task force for accelerating disaster rehabilitation and reconstruction in Sumatera, specifically the Interior Minister,” he added.
