Jakarta (ANTARA) - Speaker of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Ahmad Muzani said that Indonesia’s participation in the Board of Peace (BoP) represents a progressive and concrete step in the nation’s efforts to liberate Palestine from Israel’s grip.

He expressed gratitude that President Prabowo Subianto had the courage to engage in diplomacy on the matter, which he described as a source of pride. According to him, the move also serves as a breakthrough in enhancing Indonesia’s standing on the international stage.

“This is certainly an extraordinary diplomatic effort,” Muzani said when interviewed after attending an iftar gathering in Jakarta on Sunday.

Furthermore, he assessed that Indonesia’s participation in the BoP is crucial for peace in Gaza, particularly as the Muslim community in Gaza is currently observing worship during the month of Ramadan.

“So that they can enjoy this month of Ramadan peacefully and well, and can observe Ramadan together with their respective families,” he said.

Beyond the BoP matter, Muzani said that Prabowo’s visit to Washington DC, United States, also yielded very positive results, as there are plans for substantial American investment in Indonesia.

“I believe this is proud news, although these are still memoranda of understanding at this stage, so that our industries can compete and improve further,” he said.

Previously, President Prabowo Subianto reaffirmed Indonesia’s stance in supporting the realisation of peace in Palestine through active participation in the Board of Peace (BoP).

“We will realise the dream of peace in Palestine, a sustainable solution for Palestine and in Gaza,” the Head of State said in Washington DC, United States, on Thursday (19 February 2026) local time.
