Chairman of the MPR RI, Ahmad Muzani, has expressed his satisfaction with the location designated for the construction of the parliament building in the Nusantara Capital (IKN). Muzani highlighted the positioning of the parliament building, which is flanked by the Palace and the judicial complex.

“The location is very good, very prime. The contour is very high. On the left side is the Palace, on the right side is the judiciary, on the left side is the legislature,” explained Muzani during his inspection of the parliament building site in IKN, East Kalimantan, on Monday (20/4/2026).

“And this place, I think, is very good. Its position is high, higher than the average government buildings, and it is beautifully surrounded by extraordinary hills,” said Muzani.

The location of the building, flanked by two major structures, is deemed to make it appear majestic. He hopes that this positioning will also make parliament members feel more comfortable in the future.

“Thus, it will make this building feel majestic, representing a sturdy and intact Indonesian identity, and it will make our fellow DPR, DPD members, who are also MPR members, even more enthusiastic about more productive matters for Indonesia moving forward,” stated Muzani.

Muzani also conveyed that the purpose of his direct visit to inspect the progress of the parliament building construction in IKN is to gauge the timeline for relocating parliament members to IKN. He stated that with this positive development, parliament members are assured to move to IKN once all construction processes are completed.

“Today, we were surprised by the information conveyed by the Head of the Authority, Mr Basuki, that the approval for the parliament building, MPR, DPR, and DPD, has already received presidential approval. Including approval for the Judicial building. What does that mean? Insha’Allah, we will still move to IKN. Waiting for the MPR building to be completed, Mr Basuki,” explained Muzani.

Muzani did not deny the many public questions regarding whether parliament will move to IKN or not. Through his visit today, he no longer doubts in stating that the relocation of parliament members to IKN is a certainty.

“This is actually the purpose of our arrival, all of us along with the MPR leaders, to ensure when we will move, where we will move, and today we have the certainty that we will move to a more majestic building,” explained Muzani.

“This is important because discussions in society, on social media, even at the political level, often become topics of conversation. The political decision that we will move has already been made, because the law on IKN has been decided by us. But when we will move is the issue. And today we came to ensure when we will move, and we are even more convinced that the certainty of the move is becoming clearer,” he added.

The start of the parliament building construction in IKN, continued Muzani, becomes the answer to the questions arising in the public. He hopes the construction progress can run smoothly.

“Now we just wait for the construction developments. We all pray that all initiatives and plans that have been approved by the President can proceed smoothly, Amen. And of course, the command is with Mr Basuki,” he said.
