Mutilated Body Found in Sack in Depok, Initially Mistaken for Rubbish and Set Alight
A mutilated body was discovered in a rice sack in Pancoran Mas, Depok, after residents mistook it for rubbish for nearly two weeks. The body was found on Tuesday afternoon after a local resident attempted to burn the sack, which had been lying in a field since 24 July. Police spokesperson Commissioner Budi Hermanto stated that the victim was found wrapped in black plastic inside the sack, with both hands tied and both legs missing. The remains have been evacuated to Kramat Jati Police Hospital in East Jakarta for further examination. A witness, Badlu, 66, said the sack had been in the field for 12 days and was ignored because residents thought it contained household waste. The body was only discovered after the sack melted during the burning.
