Mutilated Body Found in Depok: Hands Bound, Neck Slashed

Police are investigating the discovery of a legless body, believed to be a mutilation victim, in a vacant lot in Pancoran Mas, Depok City, West Java. The body was found with a slash wound to the neck and both hands bound.

“There is a slash wound on the neck,” said AKP Hendra, Head of Public Relations for the Depok Metro Police, in a statement on Wednesday (5/8/2026).

AKP Hendra revealed that the body was found unclothed and with its hands tied. The victim’s remains were discovered inside a sack with the head covered by a black plastic bag. “When found, the body’s hands were bound, and it was wrapped in a sack and black plastic,” he added.

The victim was found dead in a gruesome state. The lower limbs, from both feet up to the thighs, were missing, having been mutilated. “The head, both hands, and torso are still present. Both legs are missing from the thigh down,” he stated.

The mutilated body was found in a vacant lot in Pancoran Mas, Depok, on Tuesday (4/8). The remains have since been taken to the Police Hospital in Kramat Jati, East Jakarta, for an autopsy.

Prior to the discovery of the mutilated body, residents had already noticed the sack as early as 24 July 2026. However, at that time, they did not realise it contained a mutilated corpse. A witness found the sack yesterday and, assuming it contained rubbish, attempted to burn it. During the burning, the witness became suspicious and discovered the sack actually contained the body of a male mutilation victim.

The identity of the victim remains unknown. Police are currently conducting an in-depth investigation to uncover the victim’s identity and find the perpetrator responsible for the murder.
