Mustaqim a senior JI member: Police
JAKARTA: One of five terror suspects recently arrested in Sukoharjo, Surakarta, Central Java, was a leading member of the al-Qaeda-linked Jamaah Islamiyah (JI) network, police said on Thursday.
National Police chief of detectives Suyitno Landung Sudjono said the suspect -- identified as Mustaqim -- was an Indonesian member of JI's central command, and was closely linked to suspected Malaysian terrorists Azahari bin Husein and Noordin Moh Top.
The five men, as well as another terror suspect Dahlan -- who was arrested earlier in Bima, West Nusa Tenggara -- are now being questioned at the Bali Police Headquarters over their alleged roles in the 2002 Bali bombings. --JP
