Muslimat NU Reiterates Call for World Peace to the UN

Surabaya (ANTARA) - The General Chair of the Supervisory Board of the Central Executive Board of Muslimat Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), Khofifah Indar Parawansa, once again conveyed a message of world peace to the United Nations (UN) during the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of Muslimat NU at the National Al Akbar Mosque in Surabaya, Sunday.

During the event, a Statement and Appeal for World Peace from Muslimat NU to the UN was read in both Indonesian and English.

“In essence, the message of this Muslimat anniversary is to build world peace. This is not only being read here but also at all anniversaries throughout Indonesia. Later, this call for peace will be delivered directly to the UN Secretary-General,” said Khofifah.

“The main point is that Muslimat NU’s message of peace to the UN is to stop the war and build harmony and peace. Hopefully, this will have a real impact in the future,” said Khofifah, who is also the Governor of East Java.

The commemoration of the 80th anniversary of Muslimat NU and the Haul (memorial service) for religious figures and female pioneers of the Regional Executive Board of Muslimat NU in East Java was attended by religious leaders and world Sufi figure Al Sheikh Al Sayid Afeefuddin Al-Jailani, as well as more than 15,000 people.

Khofifah expressed her gratitude for the presence of Al Sheikh Al Sayid Afeefuddin Al-Jailani and his family in the series of events commemorating the 80th anniversary of Muslimat NU in East Java.

Meanwhile, Syeikh Afeefuddin expressed his appreciation for the role of Muslimat NU in preserving Islamic values, shaping the morals of young generations, and building strong families.

“Every time I come here, when I am in this country, a country full of peace and security, especially East Java, there are always news coming from distant places. They come to seek blessings. They come to gain affection,” he said.

In the Mau’idhoh Hasanah (good advice), Syeikh Afeefuddin also reminded the importance of protecting young people from the negative influence of excessive gadget use.

“Therefore, it is our obligation as parents to educate our children, the younger generation. So that when we educate them properly, they will become preachers, teachers, not only with words but also with their morals and character,” he said.
