Muslim Utilises Bogor Immigration's 'Medisa': Passport Ready in 15 Minutes

A passport applicant at the Class I Non-TPI Immigration Office in Bogor, West Java, named Muslim, shared his experience of obtaining his first passport. He utilised the ‘Medisa’ programme, which stands for ‘Melayani di Hari Sabtu’ (Serving on Saturdays). The 31-year-old said he arrived at the Bogor Immigration Office at 09.00 WIB and the entire passport application process was completed in less than 15 minutes. ‘I was scheduled for 09.00 WIB, but the process didn’t even take 15 minutes, it was done,’ Muslim told reporters at the location on Saturday. He said the passport would be used for an upcoming overseas holiday. Meanwhile, another applicant, Annisa (27), hopes the Bogor Immigration Office will increase the quota of applicants and service hours for the Medisa programme. She said this would prevent applicants from scrambling for slots. ‘They should add more hours so there are more slots. Increase the quota too so we don’t have to fight for them,’ Annisa said. Echoing Muslim, Annisa said the service is very helpful for office workers like herself, as arranging a passport on a weekday is hindered by time constraints and the need to seek permission from superiors. ‘For workers like me, it really helps so I don’t have to take leave. Also, the online registration is easy, the staff here are friendly, the service is good, and the place is nice, so waiting is comfortable,’ Annisa said. The Class I Non-TPI Bogor Immigration Office provides passport services on weekends, both Saturday and Sunday. The aim is to give an opportunity to citizens who cannot process immigration documents from Monday to Friday due to work routines. The Saturday service is called ‘Medisa’ and is located at the Bogor Immigration Office. The Sunday service, following directives from the Directorate General of Immigration at the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections, is held at the Bogor City Sports Hall during car-free day hours. The office has been operating the Saturday service for the past six months. The quota for Saturday applicants is 50 people, but this can be increased according to public need.
