Muslim Lawmakers' ICE Protest Enrages Trump on Social Media
US President Donald Trump was heckled by two Muslim lawmakers during a speech, prompting an angry response on social media.
According to a report by detikcom on Thursday, February 26, 2026, the two Muslim members of the House of Representatives who heckled Trump are from the Democratic Party. The two representatives are Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib.
The two representatives heckled Trump during his State of the Union address to Congress on Tuesday evening. Trump immediately responded with angry posts on social media, saying that they should be sent “back to where they came from.”
In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump called the two female representatives “low-IQ” and said that they “should be sent to a mental institution.” Trump described them as having “bulging, bloodshot eyes like crazy people, mentally ill and insane,” when they heckled him during his speech.
“When people can behave like that, and know that they are Crooked and Corrupt Politicians, it is so bad for our Country, we must send them back to where they came from - immediately!” Trump wrote. “They are only hurting the United States, they cannot do anything to help it,” he added, as reported by NBC News.
Tlaib and Omar heckled Trump as he spoke to parliament on Tuesday evening. The two protested against Trump’s role in the deaths of US citizens at the hands of ICE officials.
“You have killed Americans!” Omar shouted.
Ilhan Omar is a Muslim woman born in Somalia. She has been a legal US citizen for almost 30 years. Rashida Tlaib is a Palestinian-American born in Detroit, Michigan.
Neither Omar nor Tlaib are eligible for deportation.
Trump also included Academy Award-winning actor Robert De Niro in his criticism. This came after De Niro spoke critically about him and his administration at the Democratic Party’s “State of the Swamp” event in Washington on Tuesday evening.
In his social media post, Trump said that Omar and Tlaib “should get on a boat with crazy Robert De Niro, and other sick and demented people who I am sure, have very low IQs, and who don’t know what they are doing or saying - some of them are very CRIMINAL!”
