Musician Endah Widiastuti Urges Government to Expand Bicycle Lanes
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Musician Endah Widiastuti, a member of the duo Endah N Rhesa, hopes the government will increase the provision of dedicated lanes for cyclists on highways so that users of this environmentally friendly mode of transport can ride safely and comfortably.
“Hopefully, this will lead to even more dedicated bicycle lanes,” she said during the World Music Day celebrations in Jakarta on Sunday (21/6).
Endah admitted that she frequently uses a bicycle for her daily mobility. She even cycled to performance venues during the Endah N Rhesa tour in 2017.
As a cycling enthusiast, Endah feels supported by the presence of facilities for cyclists in public spaces.
“It would be great if there were dedicated bicycle lanes. This would be a significant improvement, because before this, I might only have seen dedicated bike lanes in residential areas,” said Endah.
The South Tangerang-based musician also appreciated the policy by authorities allowing cyclists to pass through the Bundaran HI MRT Station area in Jakarta on holidays.
“I hope Jakarta becomes a comfortable place, both for those who live here permanently and for those who are just passing through, like Rhesa and myself,” she added.
