JAKARTA (JP): U.S. Ambassador for Indonesia and Mrs. Robert L.
Barry will host a cultural evening featuring the cultural
richness of Central Sulawesi.

The event, to be held on Friday, is to support the student
exchange program of the American Field Service (AFS).

"It costs US$6,000 to support each student, and only one out
of four of the Indonesian exchanges is able to provide this
amount without assistance," Mrs. Barry said.

The annual cultural evening, called Madero Night, will feature
not only music and dances from Central Sulawesi, but also a
demonstration of the traditional way of weaving performed by
native people from the area. There will also be an exhibition of
ebony handicrafts, traditional art, souvenirs and fabrics.

Bina Antar Budaya, the Indonesian Foundation for Intercultural
Learning, has been an associate partner of the AFS Intercultural
Programs since 1992. (sim)
