Music as a mental therapy
Music as a mental therapy
From Bisnis Indonesia
Every kind of sound has a certain influence on the human mind.
Some sounds create negative influences, such as buzzing or loud
sounds as it disturbs the peace and quiet. Whereas the chirping
of birds, the sprinkling of water, the blowing of the wind, the
rustling of leaves or harmonious music can have a positive
influence.
Of course we cannot avoid the negative sounds, but we can
counter them by playing music that influences us positively.
Music with a fast and upbeat tempo, and played repeatedly, can
raise your spirits. However listening to too much of this type of
music might make you feel restless.
If you want to feel peaceful, an instrumental classical piece
or slow romantic music is recommended. A solo guitar music can
also positively influence your emotions.
As one of the tools for this type of therapy, you can record
soothing music on the entire cassette and play it as a background
sound wherever you might be: at home, in the office or in your
car.
During your busy hours, this type of music can help you relax
and be more patient. It will also reduce negative emotions and
help you concentrate better.
Music such as these can also help you concentrate better as
when you are meditating.
