Musi Rawas Police Thwart Smuggling of Over 2kg of Crystal Meth and 20 Ecstasy Pills
The smuggling attempt was foiled involving a courier on the public road in Muara Megang Village, Megang Sakti Subdistrict, Musi Rawas Regency, on Friday (8/5/2026) around 18:00 WIB. The suspect who was apprehended is initialled H (26), a labourer from Lubuk Linggau Utara II Subdistrict.
During the arrest operation, the suspect attempted to flee and abandoned the black Honda Revo motorcycle without a licence plate that he was riding. However, personnel on the scene swiftly thwarted the suspect’s escape.
The revelation stemmed from information from the public regarding a narcotics shipment from Karang Dapo, Musi Rawas Utara Regency (Muratara), to Muara Megang. On the instructions of the Head of Narcotics Criminal Investigation Unit of Musi Rawas Police Resort, Iptu Jemmy Amin Gumayel, the team immediately conducted intensive monitoring on the suspected route.
Upon searching the suspect’s vehicle, police discovered a highly organised concealment system for the evidence under the motorcycle seat. The suspect used a double-layered packaging method to deceive officers.
The narcotics were wrapped in a plastic bag labelled ‘Gerly Boutique’, bound with layers of yellow duct tape, placed inside a black leather bag, and then disguised again using two gold plastic wrappers branded ‘Porsche’.
From the search results, officers seized several pieces of evidence consisting of crystal methamphetamine in two large plastic bags (2,037 grams) and five medium clip plastics (53.44 grams) with a total gross weight of 2,090.44 grams, as well as ecstasy in two clip plastics containing 20 ecstasy pills with a gross weight of 9.51 grams.
Other seized evidence included one Honda Revo motorcycle without a police number, a black leather bag, various packaging plastics (Gerly Boutique & Porsche), remnants of yellow duct tape, and cash of Rp 150,000.
Urine test results confirmed that suspect H tested positive for methamphetamine consumption. Based on initial interrogation, H admitted to obtaining the illicit goods from an individual initialled A in Karang Dapo (Muratara) to be delivered to a target initialled R in the Musi Rawas area.
For his actions, the suspect is charged under Article 114 Paragraph (2) of Law No. 35 of 2009 on Narcotics jo. Law No. 1 of 2026 on Criminal Penalty Adjustments, or Article 609 Paragraph (2) Letter a of Law No. 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code jo. Law No. 1 of 2026. He now faces a maximum penalty of the death sentence or life imprisonment.
The Chief of Musi Rawas Police Resort, AKBP Agung Adhitya Prananta, emphasised that the Muratara-Musi Rawas route is indeed one of the main surveillance focuses for his unit. His side is committed to cutting off drug distribution routes in the area.
“Today, more than two kilograms of crystal meth and 20 ecstasy pills have been successfully thwarted by us before circulating in society. This is a tangible form of the Musi Rawas Police Resort’s commitment to continue being a fortress in cutting off drug distribution routes in the South Sumatra region,” AKBP Agung stressed.
The same sentiment was expressed by the Head of Narcotics Criminal Investigation Unit Iptu Jemmy Amin Gumayel, who stated that his side will continue to develop this case to hunt down the main suppliers and recipients of the goods.
Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations of South Sumatra Regional Police, Kombes Nandang Mu’min Wijaya, appreciated the successive successes of his subordinates. He stated that this large seizure demonstrates the consistency and seriousness of the Indonesian National Police institution in South Sumatra.
“In one day, the South Sumatra Regional Police ranks successfully seized more than 12 kilograms of narcotics from two different major operations. This proves that the state is truly present in protecting the people of South Sumatra from the narcotics threat through measured, simultaneous, and uncompromising actions,” Nandang said on Sunday (10/5).
The South Sumatra Regional Police together with the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Directorate ensure they will continue to thoroughly investigate cross-regional networks operating on the Muratara, Musi Rawas, to Lubuk Linggau City route.
