Museums attract few visitors

Museums attract few visitors

From Merdeka

If museums in the country were professionally managed, local
and foreign tourists would be able to visit them more often. At
this point in time, museums in Jakarta and the provinces have
failed to attract many visitors.

This situation is evident throughout the week and during
holiday time. Even Visit Indonesia Year did not bring about a
change in the situation.

It is hard to make museums an attractive place. Most people
think of them as a place of no interest, somewhere to store old
junk.

Of course, it is a faulty notion. Museums can be transformed
into sound and pleasing places of recreation. They should widen
someone's horizon of history and cultures.

It is up to museum authorities to introduce an advanced, but
modern museum management. Do not allow the situation to go from
bad to worse. This should be prevented. If necessary, we should
follow the methods of management in advanced countries like
France, Holland, Germany, and the U.S.
