Museum society organizes tour

JAKARTA: The Sahabat Museum society, a group of people interested in Jakarta's museums, is planning a tour of old Batavia bank buildings on Sunday.

The tour will start at 7:30 a.m. at the Factorij Nederlandsche Handel-Maatschappij building, now known as the Bank Mandiri Museum, which houses a collection of banking equipment from the colonial era.

Another place to visit is the Kota branch of Bank Mandiri in West Jakarta, which was built in 1935 by a Dutch architect, and the Javasche Bank, now known as the Bank Indonesia building.

In addition, tour participants will visit the old Beos train station (today Station Jakarta Kota), also in the old city of West Jakarta.
