Murur Scheme for Hajj Pilgrims in 2026: A Solution for Elderly and High-Risk Individuals in Muzdalifah
The Indonesian Hajj Organising Committee (PPIH) is currently finalising the implementation of the ‘murur’ scheme for Indonesian pilgrims ahead of the peak of worship in Arafah, Muzdalifah, and Mina. This policy will be prioritised for elderly pilgrims, those at high risk, and people with disabilities to maintain their health and reduce congestion in Muzdalifah.
The Director General of Hajj and Umrah Organisation, who is also Deputy Head II of PPIH Saudi Arabia, Puji Raharjo, explained that pilgrims who fall into the ‘murur’ category will be transported directly from Arafah to Mina by bus without having to disembark and stay overnight in Muzdalifah.
“Due to limited space in Muzdalifah, some of our high-risk pilgrims, elderly people, those with comorbidities, and their companions will be taken directly to Mina,” said Puji Raharjo in Saudi Arabia on Sunday (17/5).
“This means they do not have to disembark in Muzdalifah and do not have to wait until midnight to pass through Muzdalifah. We don’t want any more pilgrims leaving Muzdalifah late or having to walk due to congestion,” said Puji Raharjo.
Puji reminded all pilgrims to follow the instructions of officers and maintain their stamina before performing the Wuquf. “The peak of Hajj is in Arafah. Don’t let them run out of energy before it’s time,” he concluded. (Fik/I-1)
