A field of 67 lady golfers from Surabaya, Malang, Bandung, Palembang and Padang braved the scorching heat over the par-72 Kemayoran golf course to take part in the two-day Indonesian Lady Seniors' Amateur Open Golf Championships on Tuesday and Wednesday.

They were vying to take top place in four divisions, Gross Individual, Nett Individual, Team Gross Interclub and Team Net Interclub, over 36 holes, organizing committee chairperson Lien Sultan Said said on Wednesday.

"We divided the two-day competition into four divisions to meet the needs of the participants. They can decide themselves in which event they wish to compete," Lien added.

Murni Rusli, from the Matoa Nasional golf club, who carries a nine handicap, was declared the champion in the Best Gross Overall event after scoring a two-day total of 162 (84 78)

Surging ahead from the first round on Tuesday for the sole lead, Murni, who has booked nine years experience in the field, extended her lead on day two of the tournament on Wednesday to card a 78, which clinched the title for her.

"I just concentrated on the ball. I never targeted winning the title," Murni said.

The Best Nett Overall title was won by Dewi Nuralam from Palembang,
