Murder trial postponed
Murder trial postponed
JAKARTA (JP): Flood has canceled testimony from witnesses in a trial of allegedly cold blooded murderers which has attracted wide public attention.
The East Jakarta District Court was knee-deep in water yesterday, paralyzing the court's administrative activities.
The trial was scheduled to hear witnesses' testimony on a murder case of Rohadi's spouse and their three children last October. The four were brutally murdered allegedly by their neighbor's family in Bambu Apus, Bekasi.
"We are prepared to conduct the trial but it is being postponed indefinitely until further notice," Azizul Hakim, a prosecutor told The Jakarta Post yesterday.
Located on Jalan Ahmad Yani in Eastern Jakarta, in the Pulo Mas sub-district, the road leading to the courthouse was flooded as high as an adult's chest.
The court chief reportedly arrived at the court by 9 a.m. by riding on a garbage cart.
Two trucks loaded with police personnel guarded the court house.
"We've been here since seven o'clock," a police personnel said. (14)
