Murder Suspect in Serang Garden Hanging Briefly Fled to Tangsel
The Serang City Police Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) said officers are investigating the case after the victim was found dead, hanging in a garden on Monday (18 May) at around 5:00 p.m. Western Indonesian Time. Police detected several signs of injuries on the corpse.
“Based on the results of on-site examinations and autopsy findings, the victim BY is suspected to have died abnormally due to several injuries on her body,” said Alfano Ramadhan.
A joint team from Serang City Police and Cipocok Jaya Police Sector questioned a number of witnesses. In addition, police recovered the victim’s mobile phone, which had previously gone missing.
Police sought the whereabouts of AS, who was not at his residence in Gelam, Cipocok Jaya District. According to information, AS fled to the jurisdiction of the Metro Jaya Regional Police, specifically in Tangerang Selatan (Tangsel).
Police detained AS on Friday (22 May) at around 1:15 a.m. at his brother’s rented accommodation on Jalan Garuda Benda Baru, Pamulang.
“The suspect has since been brought to the Satreskrim Office of Serang City Police for further questioning,” he said.
AS is charged under Article 459 in conjunction with Article 458 of the Indonesian Penal Code with regard to acts of murder in a planned manner and/or murder.
“At present, investigators from Satreskrim Polresta Serang Kota are still delving deeper and conducting further examinations regarding the motive and sequence of the crime,” Alfano said.
Earlier, a woman was found dead, hanging from a tree in a garden in Gelam, Cipocok Jaya District, Serang City. The body is believed to have hung for several days at the location and was in a decayed state.
The woman was found hanging from a tree, fully clothed, but her body appeared to be blackened.
