Murder suspect denied bail
Murder suspect denied bail
SINGAPORE (Reuter): A Singapore Airlines steward suspected of
murdering a flight attendant in Los Angeles was denied bail
yesterday pending extradition proceedings, his lawyer said.
Zaini Jeloni, 27, is a suspect in the murder of Singapore
Airlines stewardess Chang Yu, 23.
"Bail has been denied on the basis that he is facing a charge
of first-degree murder," lawyer Joseph Chellappan said.
Chellappan said his client was due to appear in court again on
Nov. 28. He said Zaini would plead not guilty but had not decided
whether to challenge extradition by the United States.
Zaini, who was being held in maximum-security Queenstown
prison, was arrested by Singapore police on Monday after they
received a warrant from the Los Angeles Police Department.
