Murder Reconstruction of Unram Student Held, Suspect Jeered by Residents

Police carried out a reconstruction of the murder case of Universitas Mataram (Unram) student Nadya Dwi Ramadhany, with a suspect named Haikal, on Monday (3/8/2026). The reconstruction became a spectacle for local residents.

The reconstruction took place at the victim’s boarding house in the Gomong area, Selaparang Subdistrict, Mataram City, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), which was also the scene of the crime.

According to observations by detikBali, dozens of police officers maintained tight security along the road leading to the victim’s boarding house. Dozens of residents were seen watching in front of the boarding house gate.

“We’re curious about who the perpetrator is,” said one resident who was watching, on Monday (3/8/2026).

The reconstruction was performed directly by the suspect. Haikal wore an orange detention shirt, with his face covered by a ninja-style balaclava, while the victim’s role was played by someone else.

Haikal was then shouted at by residents calling him a murderer. “Hey, take off your mask, why are you wearing a mask?” the residents shouted.

The Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Mataram City Police, AKP I Made Dharma Yulia Putra, confirmed the reconstruction. “Today we carried out a reconstruction at the victim’s boarding house,” Dharma said.

Haikal re-enacted dozens of scenes. Dharma did not disclose the details of these scenes. “There are dozens of scenes,” he added.

For context, Nadya was found dead in her boarding house room in the Gomong area, Selaparang Subdistrict, Mataram City, NTB, on Sunday evening (17/5/2026). The young woman, originally from Beru Village, Jereweh Subdistrict, Sumbawa Regency, NTB, was found by a friend who came looking for her at her boarding house.

The victim was found lying down and the body had already begun to emit an unpleasant odour. The boarding house room was locked, and the victim’s mobile phone and motorcycle were missing.

The incident was purely a theft case that ended in the loss of Nadya’s life. There was no rape committed by the perpetrator against the victim.

“It was purely theft. The perpetrator initially took the mobile phone and then took the motorcycle. He was caught in the act, then smothered and strangled the victim (until she died),” said the Mataram City Police Chief, Kombes Hendro Purwoko, on Friday (31/7/2026).
