Mataram (ANTARA) - The Mataram District Attorney’s Office in West Nusa Tenggara has found indications of a sexual violence offence in the alleged murder case of a female student identified as NDR in a boarding house room in the Gomong Sakura area.

Head of the Intelligence Section at the Mataram District Attorney’s Office, Ida Made Oka Wijaya, said in Mataram on Tuesday that the fact was revealed from the examination of the case file of suspect Haikal.

“Yes, it is true, there are facts in the file relating to a sexual violence offence,” said Made Oka.

Following the finding, the examining prosecutor has asked police investigators to further investigate the allegation by gathering evidence that can strengthen the elements of a sexual violence offence.

“So, from these initial facts, investigators still need to examine further,” he said.

“This means coordination continues between the public prosecutor and investigators. Further details can be asked to the investigators,” he said.

Meanwhile, Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit at Mataram City Police, AKP I Made Dharma Yulia Putra, said he had not yet received information from investigators regarding the prosecutor’s finding on the alleged sexual violence.

“Let me first ask the Jatanras (Violent Crime Unit) investigators,” said Made Dharma.

Previously, investigators sent the case file to the examining prosecutor at the Mataram District Attorney’s Office on Wednesday (5/8). If there are additional instructions from the examination, investigators will complete the case file.

“If it is declared complete, we will proceed to stage two (handover of the suspect and evidence),” he said.

The reconstruction was held at three locations with a total of 44 scenes. Suspect Haikal was also present during the activity.

A total of 35 scenes took place in the victim’s boarding house room in the Gomong Sakura area, Mataram City. In the reconstruction, Haikal was shown committing violent theft that led to the death of NDR, a woman from Jereweh, West Sumbawa Regency.

In the case, Haikal allegedly took two mobile phones, one motorcycle, and the key to the victim’s boarding house room after strangling and smothering the victim with a pillow in the early hours of Saturday (16/5).

The reconstruction did not include scenes of the alleged sexual violence offence. The allegation was also not recorded in the police examination report.

During the investigation, police named Haikal as a suspect with multiple charges. For the alleged violent theft resulting in the victim’s death, investigators applied Article 458 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 479 paragraph (3) of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code.

In addition, Haikal is also suspected of committing offences related to possession of a sharp weapon and assault.

For that case, investigators applied Article 307 paragraph (1) and Article 466 paragraph (2) of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code.
