Murder Case Elevated to Investigation, Two Nus Kei Killers Face Death Penalty

Police have officially elevated the status of the murder case of Agrapinus Rumatora, alias Nus Kei, Chairman of the DPD Golkar Southeast Maluku, to the investigation stage. Police have sent the Notification of the Commencement of Investigation (SPDP) to the Southeast Maluku District Prosecutor’s Office.

“The SPDP has been submitted to the Southeast Maluku District Prosecutor’s Office as an official notification that the investigation is underway. This is a mandatory legal mechanism in handling every criminal case,” said the Head of Public Relations of the Maluku Regional Police, Commissioner Pol Rositah Umasugi, when contacted on Thursday (23/4/2026).

The case under investigation is premeditated murder. The two perpetrators, named Hendrikus Rahayaan (28) and Finansius Ulukyanan (36), have been detained after being designated as suspects.

They are charged under Article 459 of the Criminal Code with a potential death penalty, life imprisonment, or a maximum of 20 years in prison. They are also charged under Article 458 of the Criminal Code with a maximum prison sentence of 15 years.

Rositah stated that the submission of the SPDP to the prosecutor’s office serves as the basis for coordination on prosecution and oversight of the case file until the trial stage. She emphasised that all stages are conducted professionally, transparently, and in accordance with legal provisions.

The police have also assured that the public order and security situation in Southeast Maluku remains conducive. Police urge the public not to be provoked and to fully entrust the legal process to the authorities.

Previously reported, the incident occurred at Karel Sadsuitubun Ibra Airport, Kei Kecil Subdistrict, on Sunday (19/4) around 11:25 WIT. At that time, Nus Kei had just landed after an air journey from Jakarta.

“The occurrence of a stabbing criminal act that resulted in the death of the Chairman of the DPC Golkar Party of Southeast Maluku Regency, Agrapinus Rumatora alias Nus Kei,” said Commissioner Rositah Umasugi to detikcom.

The victim was then evacuated to Karel Sadsuitubun Hospital around 12:00 WIT. The victim received medical treatment before being declared dead.

Perpetrators Admit Revenge

Police arrested two men with initials HR (28) and FU (36) who stabbed Agrapinus Rumatora alias Nus Kei, Chairman of DPD II of the Golkar Party Southeast Maluku, at Karel Sadsuitubun Ibra Airport, Southeast Maluku. The two perpetrators admitted to seeking revenge because Nus Kei was the mastermind behind the murder of their brother in Bekasi.

“Based on the perpetrators’ confession, the motive was revenge,” said the Head of Public Relations of the Maluku Regional Police, Commissioner Rositah Umasugi, to reporters on Monday (20/4).

Umasugi said the two perpetrators sought revenge because they accused Nus Kei of being the mastermind behind the murder of their brother named Fenansius Wadanubun, which occurred in 2020 in Kalimalang, Bekasi.

“The two perpetrators sought revenge because the victim Nus Kei was the mastermind behind the murder of their brother named Fenansius Wadanubun alias Dani Holat,” she explained.

“Which occurred in 2020 in Jakarta next to the Kalimalang Apartment, Bekasi,” she concluded.
