Murder and Mutilation in Depok: Perpetrator Met Victim Online
The murder and mutilation of a man on Jalan Kavling Departemen Kesehatan (Depkes), Pancoran Mas District, Depok City, West Java, has been uncovered following the arrest of the perpetrator by law enforcement. The suspect has been identified as Saiful, 26, while the victim was named Kusnaefi, 51, a resident of Kampung Bojong, Pondok Terong Subdistrict, Cipayung District, Depok City.
The suspect was arrested at a house in the Pandeglang area, Banten, while attempting to flee on Wednesday (5/8/2026) at 04.15 WIB. “Yes, the perpetrator of the murder and mutilation has been arrested and is now detained at Polda Metro Jaya for further investigation,” said AKP Hendra, Head of Public Relations for the Depok Metro Police.
He stated that the body was not intact when discovered. Both legs were missing up to the base of the thighs, leaving only the head, both hands, and torso. The body was found unclothed with both hands tied, inside a sack with the head covered by a black plastic bag. “When found, the body’s hands were tied, wrapped in a sack and black plastic,” he said.
Hendra explained that the victim had been reported missing to the authorities by his family. “The uncovering of this case began with a series of interconnected events, starting from the initial discovery of the sack and the missing person report,” he added.
The case began when a resident spotted a suspicious sack in a red soil field on 24 July 2026, initially mistaking it for rubbish. A day later, on 25 July 2026, the victim’s wife reported her husband missing to the Depok Metro Police. A week later, the victim’s whereabouts were inadvertently discovered by residents active in the area. Subsequently, on 4 August 2026 at around 15.30 WIB, a resident burned the sack, revealing human body parts inside.
“The discovery was then reported to the police and followed up with a crime scene investigation by the Pancoran Mas Police in coordination with the Depok Metro Police Inafis team,” he stated. Based on the investigation at the scene, police immediately cross-referenced data and hunted for the perpetrator. “Armed with the victim’s identification, the missing person report, witness statements, and a series of investigations, police managed to uncover the perpetrator’s identity and arrest him in the Pandeglang area, Banten Regency,” Hendra explained.
Hendra revealed that the perpetrator and victim became acquainted online before arranging a face-to-face meeting that ended in death. “The results of the examination revealed that Saiful and the victim knew each other through social media before agreeing to meet in person at a rented room in Cipayung on 23 July 2026. The meeting led to an argument, and the suspect stabbed the victim in the stomach and slashed his neck with a knife,” he detailed. After killing the victim, the panicked suspect mutilated the body to make disposal easier and stole the victim’s belongings. “To cover his tracks, the perpetrator mutilated the victim’s body at the base of the thighs, wrapped the body in a sack and black plastic, then dumped the torso in a red soil field, while the leg parts were thrown into the Pitara River in Pancoran Mas. After the act, the perpetrator took the victim’s motorcycle to Pandeglang, Banten, and sold it,” he concluded.
