Muratara ALS Bus Tragedy: Organda Urges Investigation into Tanker Load
A fatal accident involving a bus from PO Antar Lintas Sumatera (ALS) and a tanker truck occurred in North Musi Rawas Regency (Muratara), South Sumatra, on Wednesday (6/5/2026), drawing attention from many parties. The head-on collision between the two large vehicles reportedly claimed 16 lives. Kurnia Lesani Adnan, General Secretary of the DPP Organda, stated that all Organda ranks extend their condolences over the accident. He also mentioned that, as of Thursday afternoon, the latest information from the surviving assistant driver indicated the ALS bus was swerving to avoid a pothole on the left side of the road when the oncoming tanker truck caused the collision. “The ALS bus, based on administrative data we have, was roadworthy, and physically, from social media footage circulating, it was in good condition for operation,” he said, quoted from an official statement on Friday (8/5/2026). However, he stressed that the contents of the tanker truck’s load must also be thoroughly investigated, as the cause of the severe fire at the scene originated from the tanker’s cargo. “Our latest coordination with Patra Niaga confirmed that this tanker truck is not registered or listed as a Patra Niaga fuel transport vehicle. This is what we are asking the authorities to investigate regarding the tanker’s load involved in the accident,” he said. As this is part of the responsibility in serving the public. “We hope such accidents do not occur in the future by urging all transport operators to implement and supervise the Safety Management System (SMK) as mandated by the Ministry of Transportation,” he added.
