Munjirin: Free Water Tank Provision Helps Residents Secure Water Reserves
Jakarta (ANTARA) - East Jakarta Mayor Munjirin stated that the free water tank assistance programme from PAM Jaya brings direct benefits to residents of Pulogebang ward, Cakung sub-district, for storing water reserves for daily needs.
“My deepest gratitude to the PAM Jaya Director and the Governor for realising this social programme of water tank assistance, especially in East Jakarta,” Munjirin said after the handover of free water tanks to residents’ homes in RT 12/RW 08, Pulogebang, East Jakarta, on Thursday.
In addition to aiding clean water storage, the assistance also gives residents greater peace of mind by having water reserves for daily needs.
A total of 357 water tanks were distributed to residents of RT 12/RW 08 Pulogebang along with PAM Jaya officials. The assistance represents PAM Jaya’s concern for the piped water customer community in East Jakarta.
“This is one form of PAM Jaya’s commitment to supporting the residents it serves,” he said.
Munjirin appreciated the steps taken by PAM Jaya and the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government to continuously provide social programmes for the community, particularly related to clean water services.
Moreover, the need for water tanks remains quite high in several areas of East Jakarta. Therefore, it is hoped that similar assistance can continue to be extended to other areas.
“Other places in East Jakarta also greatly need those tanks. Hopefully, other areas will also receive them,” he said.
“Alhamdulillah, now it’s convenient to have water reserves,” he added.
Febri, who has been a PAM Jaya customer for more than 10 years, considers piped water services more practical and comfortable compared to other water sources.
He also mentioned that the water supply in his area has been smooth so far. However, the presence of tanks remains important as storage for daily water needs.
During the event, residents also received education on the importance of keeping the tanks clean to maintain water quality.
“The message is to clean the tanks regularly, check the water every month or two months to prevent dirt or mould in the water storage,” said Febri.
Meanwhile, Perumda PAM Jaya targets the distribution of up to 5,000 free water tanks to Jakarta residents throughout 2026 as part of strengthening clean water services.
Arief is optimistic that the tank assistance programme will continue to increase throughout 2026. Moreover, if the realisation runs quickly, PAM Jaya targets distributing up to 1,000 tanks in each Jakarta area by the end of the year.
To date, 1,000 tanks have been distributed to communities in five Jakarta areas, including RT 12/RW 08 Pulogebang ward, Cakung sub-district, East Jakarta.
