Munil Found Dead at Hands of Drinking Companions

A man named Triyanto, also known as Munil (40), was found dead with multiple injuries in Pringading, Guwosari, Pajangan, Bantul. He is believed to have died after being assaulted by his friends following a drinking session.

"The body found with multiple injuries points towards assault resulting in death," said Bantul Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head, AKP Subihan Afuan Ardhi, when contacted by journalists on Monday evening (24/8).

Subihan stated that police have detained several suspected perpetrators. The suspects were arrested in a series of operations since Sunday night (23/8).

"We have detained the suspected perpetrators, some were arrested last night and some today. So far, three suspected perpetrators have been detained," he said.

Police have not yet revealed the motive for the assault. However, on Saturday (22/8), Munil had been drinking alcohol with his friends.

Bantul Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head, AKP Subihan Afuan Ardhi, said that three perpetrators have been arrested in connection with the assault in Pajangan. According to Subihan, that number is expected to increase.

"Based on witness statements, there is still one more person being pursued," Subihan said when contacted by detikJogja on Tuesday (25/8/2026).

Subihan said police are still hunting for the suspected perpetrator. Authorities are working to apprehend the suspect as soon as possible.

"Not yet, but hopefully as soon as possible (the suspect can be caught)," he said briefly.

Preliminary examination results indicate the perpetrators admitted to being intoxicated. "From preliminary examinations, the perpetrators were under the influence of alcoholic beverages," Subihan said.

Subihan stated that police are continuing to pursue one remaining perpetrator so that the suspect can be apprehended promptly. This will allow the investigation and determination of the exact cause behind the perpetrators’ assault on the victim to be revealed soon.
