Munil Dies After Drinking Party, Was Beaten by 5 People, 2 Still at Large

Police have revealed that the beating which led to the death of Triyanto (40), also known as Munil, in Pringading, Guwosari, Pajangan, Bantul, involved five perpetrators. Three individuals have been arrested, while two others have been declared fugitives.

“From the development and examination, there are two perpetrators still being pursued, with the initials D and L,” said the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of Bantul Police, AKP Subihan Afuan Ardhi, when contacted by journalists on Wednesday (26/8/2026).

Subihan stated that the perpetrators and the victim were friends. However, he noted that this was not a case of premeditated murder.

“The perpetrators and the victim were friends,” he said.

“It was not planned. It was just a momentary emotional outburst by the perpetrators towards the victim,” he continued.

Subihan also revealed the roles of the three arrested individuals, identified as APB, DS, and BA. The three are accused of carrying out the beating, with one of them slashing the victim with a sharp weapon. As a result of their actions, the three perpetrators face charges under Article 466 paragraph 3 and/or Article 262 paragraph 4 of the Criminal Code.

“As for their roles, APB kicked the victim, DS struck the victim with his bare hands, and BA hit and slashed the victim with a sickle, which is still being searched for,” he said.

Munil was found dead with multiple wounds at a resident’s house in Pajangan on Sunday (23/8). He was found dead after previously having a drinking party with his friends.

Police subsequently detained three people suspected of assaulting Munil. The perpetrators are said to have beaten the victim out of anger while under the influence of alcohol.

“From the preliminary examination, the perpetrators were under the influence of alcoholic beverages,” said the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of Bantul Police, AKP Subihan Afuan Ardhi, when contacted by detikJogja on Tuesday (25/8).
