Munich Airport flights suspended after drone sighting
Flights were temporarily suspended at Munich Airport in Germany on Saturday (30 May) following a suspected drone sighting.
A local police spokesperson stated that two pilots reported a suspicious incident involving what appeared to be a drone shortly after 9:00 am local time.
‘In coordination with German air traffic control, security authorities decided to close the runway,’ the spokesperson said, according to AFP on 30 May 2026.
A police helicopter was deployed, and security personnel were ‘clarifying the situation,’ they added.
The incident caused flight disruptions for approximately one hour.
Flights resumed at 10:05 am local time, according to an airport spokesperson.
‘Extensive searches by emergency services found no threat to public safety,’ the spokesperson said.
