Munas X, the Middle East, and Important Lessons on Prioritising National Self-Reliance
Governor of Lemhannas RI, TB Ace Hasan Syadzily, encouraged the younger generation of the Indonesian Islamic Dawah Institute to improve the quality of human resources (HR) in facing global uncertainties.
He raised the discourse on human resources as capital for national self-reliance during a briefing at the 10th National Conference (Munas) of the Central Board of the Indonesian Islamic Dawah Institute at the Grand Ballroom Minhajurrosyidin, Jakarta, on Wednesday evening (8/4/2026).
He stressed that the younger generation, especially Generation Z, has a crucial role in determining the nation’s future. Therefore, enhancing academic capacity and skills is non-negotiable.
He also encouraged the younger generation, particularly the successors of the Indonesian Islamic Dawah Institute, to strengthen competencies in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) to exploit Indonesia’s natural resource wealth.
“That is why I want to encourage, through the educational institutions under the Indonesian Islamic Dawah Institute, to strengthen professional academic abilities and STEM skills. Because our natural wealth can be extracted with those skills,” he continued.
In addition, he reminded the importance of critical digital literacy. According to him, the younger generation must not merely be social media users but should be capable of analytical and in-depth thinking.
“Do not just rely on social media. Young people must have the ability to think deeply, one of which is by reading and honing intellectual abilities,” he asserted.
In his presentation, he also touched on the global geopolitical situation full of uncertainties, including conflicts in the Middle East that impact world economic stability. This situation, in his view, should be a momentum for Indonesia to strengthen economic sovereignty.
He added that national resilience is not only the government’s responsibility but also that of all societal elements, including the Indonesian Islamic Dawah Institute.
According to him, the Indonesian Islamic Dawah Institute has a strategic role in promoting community self-reliance through various programmes that have been implemented.
He appreciated the Indonesian Islamic Dawah Institute’s initiatives in developing sorghum as an alternative food to replace rice, and the utilisation of new renewable energy through the installation of Solar Power Plants (PLTS) in pesantren and the organisation’s offices.
In response, the General Chairman of the Central Board of the Indonesian Islamic Dawah Institute, KH Chriswanto Santoso, affirmed that strengthening human resources and national resilience aligns with the organisation’s primary priority, namely nationalism.
