Munafri Calls on Religious Leaders and Congregations to Strengthen Collaboration in Building Makassar

Makassar Mayor Munafri Arifuddin, as part of his Ramadhan Safari programme in South Sulawesi, has called on all religious leaders and congregations to strengthen collaboration in building the city of Makassar.

“We are here amongst all the congregations to seek the best prayers so that we, together with the Deputy Mayor and the entire Makassar municipal government apparatus, may continue to be granted strength, health, and capability in running the wheels of government,” he said in Makassar on Friday.

Munafri Arifuddin said the Makassar municipal government’s Ramadhan Safari is planned to run for a full 30 days, covering nearly all sub-districts across the city.

He stressed that the primary objective of his leadership is to deliver the best possible public services and improve welfare in Makassar.

“We fully understand that in this first year, there may not have been much we could accomplish. However, we have made every effort to provide the best services to the public,” he explained.

He also emphasised his administration’s commitment to building a clean and transparent system of governance. According to him, the Makassar municipal government continues to work towards closing loopholes for officials who attempt to abuse their authority.

Looking ahead, Munafri expressed hope that cross-sector collaboration can continue to be strengthened in order to accelerate the development of Makassar.

He noted that prayers and support from the public, including religious leaders and congregations, serve as moral energy for the government in carrying out its mandate.

“Prayers from the congregations, from the public and from religious leaders are of the utmost importance for us in running good governance,” he said.
