Mulyatsyah admits receiving and distributing money from Chromebook vendor to Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology officials

JAKARTA — Mulyatsyah, who served as Director of SMP Kemendikbudristek in 2020–2021 and concurrently as Budget User Authority (KPA), has admitted receiving a sum of money from a Chromebook vendor or supplier. He testified in the ongoing corruption trial over Chromebook-based laptop procurement for the defendant, former Mendikbudristek Nadiem Makarim, at the Jakarta Corruption Court on Thursday (5 March 2026).

One of Nadiem’s counsel asked: ‘Sir Mulyatsyah, did you receive money from Mariana Susy? Can you explain?’ Mulyatsyah did not immediately detail the money receipt process, replying, ‘Very possible. I have already explained this in my statement.’

Susy provided the money after the procurement process, he said. ‘I received the money after the procurement process; I do not know why it was given. It was entrusted to me to hand over to operational assistance for officials within PAUDasmen,’ he explained.

Susy’s money was distributed to officials in the PAUDasmen directorate. ‘I asked where it came from; she explained. This is to serve as operational assistance to the PAUDasmen leaders,’ Mulyatsyah said.

Nadiem’s lawyer pressed on: ‘To whom was this money distributed? Do you know? Can you explain?’ ‘If the leaders of PAUDasmen, then the line includes the Director-General, the former Director-General, the Secretary-General, and then the directors,’ Mulyatsyah replied.

As the session ended, Mulyatsyah did not disclose the total amount he had received from the vendor, nor the amount he distributed. In the indictment, Mulyatsyah is said to have received 120,000 Singapore dollars and 150,000 US dollars.
