A group of motorcyclists damaged the barrier of the Casablanca Non-Toll Flyover (JLNT) in South Jakarta (Jaksel). Police are preparing multiple charges for those responsible for the damage.

The motorcyclists’ behaviour went viral on social media. From the posts circulating, one of the motorcyclists is seen burning the rope that secures the Casablanca JLNT barrier.

Once the barrier was opened, the group of motorcyclists drove through the flyover. The motorcyclists were wearing black hooded jackets with the words ‘Youth Style’, ‘Confused’, and ‘Stressed’ on them.

On average, they also did not have number plates on their vehicles. In fact, some of the motorcyclists in the group who were riding in convoy on that road were not wearing helmets.

Motorcyclists are not allowed to use the Casablanca JLNT. The flyover is intended for vehicles with four or more wheels, and there are signs indicating this.

The Head of Traffic at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Commissioner Komarudin, said that the motorcyclists’ actions in using the Casablanca JLNT were endangering themselves and others. The police are investigating the criminal element of the damage caused.

“It’s not just dangerous; we are also investigating the criminal aspect of the damage,” said Komarudin.

Eleven People Arrested

Police quickly moved to investigate the motorcycle convoy that damaged the barrier and drove through the Casablanca JLNT in South Jakarta. A total of 11 motorcyclists were arrested by the police.

“We have managed to secure 11 motorcycles from the dozens of motorcycles in the video,” said the Head of the Law Enforcement Sub-Directorate of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Traffic Directorate, AKBP Ojo Ruslani, in a statement on Monday (23/2/2026).

Ojo has not yet provided further details regarding the identities of the motorcyclists and the chronology of the arrests. They were arrested in Jatinegara, East Jakarta; Petamburan, Central Jakarta; and Jagakarsa, South Jakarta.

They are currently being held at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police headquarters for further investigation.

Damaging for Content

Dozens of motorcyclists from the ‘Youth Night Style’ community were arrested by the police. They admitted to committing the violations in order to create content.

“(The motive) was to create content,” said AKBP Ojo.

Ojo stated that the motorcyclists in the convoy were not a motorcycle gang, but rather a group from the ‘Youth Night Style’ community, whose hobby is hanging out.

“(They are) a community, a community that likes content, enjoys hanging out, not a gang, it’s a community, called Youth Night Style,” said Ojo.

Police are currently still looking for the motorcyclists who participated in the convoy. It is estimated that there were more than 20 motorcycles.

“We are checking the videos that are circulating. From the video, we will know how many motorcycles there were, around 20 motorcycles,” explained Ojo.

Multiple Charges Prepared

Police said that these motorcyclists could be charged with multiple offences. The motorcyclists were found not to have driving licenses and were using number plates that did not match the vehicle.

“We can charge them with offences ranging from illegal exhaust pipes, then lane markings, then not having a driving license, and also not using number plates that match the vehicle,” explained Ojo.

Police are still collecting some of the vehicles involved. He said that, based on the investigation conducted, it is estimated that there were 20 motorcyclists involved in the incident.

The 11 motorcyclists who have been detained were arrested in different areas. They were arrested in Jatinegara, Petamburan, and Jagakarsa.
