Major General TNI Krido Pramono, Commander of the VI/Mulawarman Military Regional Command (Pangdam), inspected the readiness of units in the border region through a working visit to the 614/Raja Pandhita Infantry Battalion and Kodim 0910/Malinau.

“This visit is part of the development and evaluation of unit readiness within the VI/Mulawarcalman Military Regional Command area,” stated Pangdam Mayjen TNI Krido Pramono in Malinau on Wednesday.

According to the Commander, the geographical position of Malinau Regency, which directly borders Sabah, Malaysia, makes unit readiness a primary focus.

While at Kodim 0910/Malinau, the Commander received unit briefings and provided directions regarding the role of regional commands in early detection, early prevention, and territorial development in inland and border areas.

The Commander then continued his inspection to the Headquarters of the 614/Raja Pandhita Battalion in Belayan Village. This combat unit of the VI/Mulawarman Command was established to address sovereignty threats at the border, including the dynamics following the Sipadan–Ligitan and Ambalat cases.

Yonif 614 has extensive deployment experience, including serving as the Border Security Task Force (Pamtas) for the Indonesia–Papua New Guinea (PNG) border. The unit deployed 450 personnel in 2024 to guard the border in Lanny Jaya, Tolikara, and Mamberamo Raya.

In his briefing to the soldiers of Yonif 614, Krido emphasised the importance of preparedness and the ability to respond quickly to security dynamics in the northern sector of Kalimantan, which borders Malaysia.

He also highlighted social assistance programmes conducted alongside regional elements. “Every child in the border region has the same right to dream big and achieve the highest level of education,” Krido remarked.

He noted that community assistance activities, such as reading houses, help strengthen the relationship between the TNI (Indonesian National Armed Forces) and residents in areas far from central services and vulnerable to access inequality.

The working visit in Malinau also included meetings with the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda) to strengthen cross-sector coordination in maintaining stability in the border region.

The entire series of activities proceeded safely and in an orderly manner. The Commander is scheduled to continue his unit development agenda in Sebuku District, Nunukan Regency.
