Mulan Jameela has spoken out regarding a hoax that dragged her name into social media. This clarification was shared via a post on her personal Instagram account on Friday (20/3).

The circulating hoax contained a narrative as if Mulan had made a statement offending the teaching profession. The content went viral on social media in the form of excerpted quotes and images, triggering negative reactions from netizens.

However, the information could not be verified for authenticity and is suspected to be the result of manipulation or misattribution without clear context.

As a result of the news, Mulan’s social media comment sections were filled with criticism. Many netizens reacted directly to the statement, which she had never actually made.

In response, Mulan admitted that she usually does not address circulating hoax issues. But this time, she felt compelled to speak because the issue related to the teaching profession.

“It might seem a bit odd because I rarely respond to hoax issues spreading on social media… but I can’t stay silent if this hoax news relates to statements about teachers,” she wrote.

Mulan firmly denied ever making a statement that belittled teachers. She instead affirmed her respect for the profession.

“I greatly respect teachers and their role in educating the nation’s children,” she stated.

She also added that she had never made any statements related to teachers, especially negative ones or those that corner the profession.

“I have never made statements related to teachers, let alone statements that tend to be negative or corner teachers,” she said.

Furthermore, Mulan explained that her scope of work in the People’s Representative Council of the Republic of Indonesia, particularly in Commission VI, does not relate to education issues. “Because my scope in Commission VI does not discuss teachers,” she wrote.

She also noted that education issues fall under the purview of Commission X of the DPR RI, which she said is currently striving to advocate for teachers’ welfare.

At the end of her statement, the wife of musician Ahmad Dhani urged the public to be wiser in receiving information circulating on social media. “For all friends receiving news, it is advisable to check and recheck. Be discerning, whether it is factual news or a hoax,” she advised.

She also requested prayers to carry out her duties as a DPR RI member well for the public’s interest. (Instagram/ @mulanjameela1/Z-2)
