Mujiyono, the chair of the DPD Demokrat Jakarta, hosted an iftar gathering with the Keluarga Besar Rumah Aspirasi Mujiyono (RAM) at Gedung Gorga 2 Pondok Bambu, East Jakarta, on Saturday (7 March). The event aimed to strengthen ties of kinship and solidarity while reinforcing internal party consolidation ahead of upcoming political milestones. In addition to the gathering, charitable donations and Lebaran gift packs were distributed to RAM members and the volunteers who have supported the organisation’s activities.

Under the theme “Merawat Silaturahmi, Menjaga Kebersamaan” (Nurturing Ties, Preserving Togetherness), the activities sought to bolster brotherhood, solidarity, and the militancy of RAM’s extended family and its volunteer network. Mujiyono said that good relations built through silaturahmi are a fundamental foundation for strengthening the organisation and fostering community cohesion.

“Consolidation does not always have to be about discussion. Coming together, preserving unity and solidarity also constitutes consolidation. Especially during Ramadan, so we are also breaking fast together,” Mujiyono said in a statement.

He revealed that the gathering is one of the initial steps in preparing political strength ahead of the 2029 electoral cycle. However, the immediate focus remains on reorganising the party at the provincial electoral district level (dapil).

The Jakarta-born politician, who has served four terms on the Jakarta DKI Council, explained that internal preparations have begun well in advance. His team has already prepared more than 1,000 polling-station (TPS) witnesses in Dapil 5 East Jakarta to oversee the democracy process on the ground. “As of today, we have prepared more than 1,000 TPS witnesses out of 3,000 witnesses in Dapil 5 East Jakarta. In addition, there are 872 regional-coordinator teams and team coordinators who continue to safeguard solidarity,” he said.

Nevertheless, the numbers fall short of the target for 2029. Mujiyono said the party aims to deploy about 9,000 personnel comprising volunteers and witnesses across various parts of East Jakarta as the base for the dapil.

Separately, the Demokrat party’s social activities across Jakarta continue. Similar iftar events have been organised by the party’s branches (DPCs) across Jakarta, reflecting a nationwide consolidation effort down to the grassroots level. Even before Ramadan, the party had launched the Demokrat Jakarta Sambut Ramadan programme, focusing on social services for the community. The programme included limited enhancements to worship facilities, such as repainting the walls of mushollas, repairing water taps for ablution areas, and minor repairs to damaged building sections.

Mujiyono stressed that all activities were carried out simply and concurrently across Jakarta with a spirit of service to the community. “We do not need to calculate electability. The important thing is to sincerely help the people. God willing, this will be a good deed and bring benefits to the community,” he said. (E-4)
