The Chairman of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) for Da’wah and also the Chairman of the Indonesian Mosque Council (DMI), KH Abdul Manan Ghani, has urged all mosque imams and khutbah preachers to read Qunut Nazilah to supplicate for the fighters and the Muslim Ummah, including Indonesian citizens (WNI) who are being held by Zionist Israel.

“Calling all mosque imams across Indonesia and the khutbah preachers, both Friday preachers and Eid al-Adha preachers, to read Qunut Nazilah for the fighters and the Muslims who have suffered misfortune, whether in Gaza, Palestine, or other places in the world,” said Kiai Manan to Republika at the MUI Headquarters, Thursday (21/5/2026).

Kiai Manan said, reciting Qunut Nazilah is a form of inner care. All originates from Allah SWT, so let us ask Allah SWT to immediately free and lift all misfortunes of Muslims anywhere, especially the Muslims of Palestine who have endured for years.

It should be noted that the arrest of Indonesian citizens (WNI) and other nationals during a humanitarian mission by Zionist Israel has drawn condemnation from many quarters. In Indonesia, scholars within MUI, Islamic organisations, and national philanthropic institutions have urged President Prabowo Subianto to help secure the release of Indonesian citizens held hostage by Israel.

“Bismillahirrahmanirrahim, we, the leaders of the Majelis Ulama Indonesia together with the leaders of Islamic organisations and national philanthropic bodies, urge Mr President Prabowo Subianto to immediately endeavour to secure the release of nine Indonesian citizens held hostage by Zionist Israel and other hostages held by Zionist Israel,” said the Chairman of MUI Ustadz Muhammad Zaitun Rasmin, accompanied by ulama and representatives of national philanthropic organisations present at the MUI Headquarters, Thursday (21/5/2026).

Ustadz Zaitun stated that the message and appeal to President Prabowo Subianto was conveyed briefly. MUI has also established a crisis centre to collect inputs and information. The crisis centre also serves the families of victims who arrive so that MUI can receive and provide strengthening support.
