MUI Urges Hajj Pilgrims to Maximise Worship During Wuquf at Arafat
Musyrif Diny, Prof KH Asrorun Niam Sholeh, reminded Indonesian Hajj pilgrims to optimally prepare for the peak of Hajj worship, namely Wuquf at Arafat Plain on 9 Dzulhijjah today, Tuesday (26 May 2026). According to the Chairman of MUI’s Fatwa Board, the Wuquf period is the most critical phase of Hajj, which must be filled with worship, prayers, remembrance of Allah (dhikr), and self-reflection. Beyond spiritual readiness, Kiai Niam stressed the importance of maintaining physical health so pilgrims can perform the entire Hajj rituals with devotion and safety. ‘Wuquf at Arafat is a fundamental pillar of Hajj. Without physical presence at Arafat on that date, the Hajj is invalid. Therefore, thorough physical and mental preparation is essential,’ said Kiai Niam from Mecca to Republika on Tuesday, 26 May 2026. Kiai Niam emphasised that the Day of Arafah is a particularly auspicious time when Allah’s mercy descends and prayers are answered. He urged pilgrims not to waste time in Arafat tents with unproductive activities. He urged Hajj pilgrims to intensively engage in spiritual practices such as reading the Quran and sending blessings upon the Prophet (salawat), dhikr, voluntary prayers, and self-reflection.
