JAKARTA — Hajj pilgrims from around the world will soon perform wukuf at Arafah Plain on 9 Dzulhijjah 1447 H, corresponding to Tuesday, 26 May 2026. Wukuf is known as the pinnacle of Hajj rituals where pilgrims supplicate from noon until sunset. Ahead of wukuf, the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) has entrusted a message to all Indonesian Hajj pilgrims to pray for the nation.

“Ahead of wukuf at Arafah, I entrust to all Indonesian Hajj pilgrims that besides praying for themselves, their families, and relatives, they also pray for Indonesia — may it remain safe and prosperous, its people prosperous, and its leaders just and faithful to God Almighty,” said KH Muhammad Cholil Nafis, Vice Chairman of MUI and Musyrif Diny of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (Kemenhaj) RI.

Through this message, Kiai Cholil urged Indonesian Hajj pilgrims to pray for the country’s prosperity, just leadership, and faith in Allah SWT.

Previously, another Musyrif Diny, Prof KH Asrorun Niam Sholeh, reminded Indonesian Hajj pilgrims to optimally prepare for the Hajj’s peak ritual — wukuf at Arafah Plain on 9 Dzulhijjah. As the MUI’s Fatwa Board Chairman, he stated that wukuf is the most critical phase of Hajj, requiring complete devotion through worship, supplication, remembrance, and self-reflection to Allah SWT.

Besides spiritual readiness, Kiai Niam also stressed the importance of maintaining physical health to ensure pilgrims can perform the entire Hajj rituals with devotion and safety.

“Wukuf at Arafah is a fundamental pillar of Hajj. Without physical presence at Arafah on that date, the Hajj is invalid. Therefore, thorough physical and mental preparedness is essential,” said Kiai Niam from Mecca on Tuesday, 26 May 2026.
