MUI Urges Donald Trump to Declare: I Started It, I Will End It

The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) has affirmed that the parties who initiated the war are Israel and the United States. Therefore, MUI recommends that US President Donald Trump initiate and announce the cessation of the war with an authoritative, dignified statement capable of inspiring the world.

The suggested statement is a simple yet powerful sentence: “I started the war, so I will end it.” This phrase carries moral strength and authority to preserve the honour of the United States and Israel while potentially halting the conflict effectively,” said MUI Deputy Chairman KH Marsudi Syuhud on the official MUI website on Monday (6/4).

It is further noted that the party which declares war should be the one to end it. On the other hand, if Iran continues to be attacked, it will persist in its resistance.

Therefore, Marsudi continued, the war’s end must begin with the party that started it. With courage, the aggressor declares that they will also be the one to end it.

MUI emphasises that there is a very strong basis in religious teachings to reject all forms of harm and destruction. Destruction must be stopped, rejected, and not allowed to continue.

In Islamic teachings, it is affirmed that peace (islah) is far better than war. Therefore, religious foundations clearly encourage the cessation of conflict and the creation of world peace.

The cessation of aggression is part of religious commandments, namely efforts to stop the damage caused by warring parties.
