MUI Issues 9 Positions on US-Israeli Attacks Against Iran, Urges Indonesia to Withdraw from BoP

Jakarta – The Indonesian Ulama Council (MUI) has issued nine formal positions concerning the military attacks by the United States and Israel against Iran.

“The MUI has carefully observed the current situation. US President Donald Trump has announced military operations against Iran. Trump has described the US and Israeli assault as a massive and sustained attack intended to destroy Iranian missiles and naval forces,” stated MUI Chairman KH Anwar Iskandar in an official statement on Sunday, 1 March 2026.

Currently, Muslims worldwide are observing fasting during Ramadan, considered a month of mercy for all humanity. Therefore, according to KH Anwar, all people should respect the sanctity of Ramadan to preserve it collectively and realise security and peace based on unity and cohesion in accordance with Allah’s command in Surah Ali-’Imran, Verse 103.

In light of this and trusting in Allah, the MUI has issued the following recommendations and positions.
