MUI Condemns US-Israel Military Aggression, Calls for UN Reform
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), together with several Islamic community organisations, called for an end to war and military aggression at the National Silaturrahmi of Islamic Community Organisations and Halal Bi Halal for Eid al-Fitr 1447 H organised by the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) in Jakarta on Wednesday (15/4/2026). The call was outlined in a statement titled “United in Brotherhood for Justice and World Peace,” which was read by the Secretary General of MUI, Amirsyah Tambunan, and the leaders of the Islamic community organisations. Amirsyah emphasised that Islam teaches humanity to live in diversity as a path to building piety while laying the foundation for creating a peaceful and just world. “The act of killing one soul without just cause is equivalent to killing all of humanity. Therefore, war and violence must be stopped,” said Amirsyah. In the statement, MUI and the Islamic organisations stressed the importance of humanitarian responsibility (mas’uliyah insaniyah) in upholding justice and combating all forms of tyranny. They called for the unity of humanity (ukhuwah insaniyah) to help one another and protect against colonialism and military aggression.
