The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) has invited Indonesian Muslims to perform salat gaib for three TNI soldiers who perished due to an Israeli attack on the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).

“I pray that their struggle to maintain peace is granted the honour of martyrdom and that all their sins are forgiven by Allah SWT. Let us pray for them and perform Salat Gaib for the deceased,” said MUI Deputy Chairman M. Cholil Nafis in a short message on Wednesday (1/4).

Cholil also condemned the brutality of the Israeli military for attacking peacekeeping forces, especially resulting in loss of life.

He further urged the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to play an active role in preventing such injustices.

“Urging the UN to actively enforce justice, protect national sovereignty, and maintain world peace,” he stated.

The three TNI soldiers were part of the UNIFIL peacekeeping contingent in Lebanon and were killed.

In its statement, UNIFIL reported that two TNI soldiers who died on Monday succumbed to injuries from an Israeli attack explosion.

Meanwhile, TNI soldier Praka Farizal Rhomadhon was killed by a projectile explosion near an Indonesian post in the village of Adchit Al Qusayr on Sunday (29/3).

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and the Indonesian government have strongly condemned the incident. Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono has called for an emergency UN Security Council meeting in response.

“The safety and security of UN peacekeeping forces cannot be compromised and must be upheld at all times,” Sugiono wrote in a post on X on Tuesday (31/3).
