Muhammadiyah's Response to the Fallen TNI Soldier in Lebanon
The Central Leadership (PP) of Muhammadiyah has conveyed condolences over the death of TNI soldier Praka Farizal Romadhon during the UN peacekeeping mission in Lebanon on Sunday, 29 March 2026.
“PP Muhammadiyah joins in mourning the passing of Praka Farizal Romadhon. The late hero, the nation’s finest son, who sacrificed his life and body in fulfilling the mandate of humanity and world peace,” stated Chairman of the Central Leadership of Muhammadiyah, Syafiq Mughni, on Tuesday, 31 March 2026.
Muhammadiyah, according to Syafiq, is giving serious attention to the aspects of legality and protection of personnel in conflict zones. They strongly condemn the rising escalation of conflict in southern Lebanon, which has directly threatened the safety of peacekeeping forces, including the Indonesian contingent at the affected military base.
Muhammadiyah emphasises the importance of compliance with international rules to prevent further casualties among those carrying out humanitarian mandates.
“We call upon all parties involved in the conflict to exercise restraint, respect international humanitarian law, and ensure the safety of peacekeeping personnel who are carrying out humanitarian mandates,” said Syafiq.
Muhammadiyah, continued Syafiq, expresses full support for the active role of the Indonesian government in carrying out world peace missions.
The incident that befell Praka Farizal occurred on Sunday, 29 March 2026. At that time, an artillery attack struck southern Lebanon amid armed clashes between the Israeli military (IDF) and the Hezbollah group.
The military attack targeting the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) headquarters not only claimed the life of Praka Farizal but also injured three other TNI soldiers.
As of now, there is no certainty on when Praka Farizal’s body will be repatriated to his hometown in Lendah, Kulon Progo Regency, Yogyakarta.
The family of Praka Farizal has been preparing to receive the body since Monday, 30 March, by setting up a tent and providing chairs for mourners.
