Jakarta (ANTARA) - The General Chairman of the Muhammadiyah Youth Central Leadership, Dzulfikar Ahmad Tawalla, expressed appreciation for the performance of the Indonesian National Police (Polri) in managing the Eid exodus and return flows for 2026, particularly in handling congestion and field responses.

“We extend our highest appreciation to the police ranks who have worked hard to ensure the smooth flow of the exodus and return. This is an achievement that deserves collective praise,” said Dzulfikar in a statement in Jakarta on Thursday.

Dzulfikar stated that the security strategies implemented, including traffic engineering and personnel deployment at critical points, demonstrated the readiness and professionalism of the apparatus in anticipating surges in public mobility.

Various measures taken, he said, were highly measured and responsive, with the presence of officers in the field truly adaptive as the personnel not only stood guard but also read the dynamics and made quick decisions on the spot.

In addition, he noted that the police succeeded in reducing traffic accident rates during the exodus and return period, which is an important indicator of the effectiveness of security policies.

“We see serious efforts to minimise accidents. Education for the public, supervision, and enforcement of rules have been carried out well,” said the Deputy Minister for the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (P2MI).

He also opined that this success contributed to maintaining a conducive atmosphere during the observance of Eid al-Fitr, allowing Muslims to perform their worship safely and comfortably.

Thus, he continued, the safe and conducive situation is an important asset for the public to celebrate the holiday with full solemnity.

“We hope this positive performance is maintained going forward,” said Dzulfikar.

Previously, the Head of the Traffic Corps (Kakorlantas) of Polri, Inspector General of Police Agus Suryonugroho, stated that the Eid exodus and return for 2026 were under control in terms of maintaining security and public order (harkamtibmas) and traffic safety, security, order, smoothness (kamseltibcarlantas).

Agus, at the Jasa Marga Traffic Management Centre (JTMC) on the Jatiasih Toll Road in Bekasi, West Java, on Monday (30/3) in the early hours, explained that from the harkamtibmas aspect, there were no prominent incidents.

Meanwhile, from the kamseltibcarlantas aspect, the number of fatalities dropped by 30 per cent.

“Likewise, the number of traffic accidents during Operation Ketupat plus KRYD (enhanced routine activities) decreased by 7 per cent,” he added.
