Muhammadiyah University's Medical Faculty Expands International Network at KOADMEX 2026 in South Korea

The Faculty of Medicine and Health at Universitas Muhammadiyah Jakarta (FKK UMJ) participated in the Korea International Advanced Digital Medical Equipment & Expo (KOADMEX) 2026. The event was held in conjunction with a Global Conference Medical Training Programme for Overseas Healthcare Professionals and an International Community Service initiative focusing on health education and preventive health screening. The international activities took place in Daegu, South Korea, from 3 to 5 July 2026. Dr. dr. Tri Ariguntar Wikaning Tyas, Sp.PK, Dean of FKK UMJ, stated that the faculty’s participation was not only as a conference attendee but also as an exhibitor at the health exhibition. The event introduced UMJ to the international community. She noted that the activities were part of implementing the cooperation between FKK UMJ and K-Medi Hub to expand international collaboration. “The main objective of our participation is to implement the cooperation between FKK UMJ and K-Medi Hub to attract industrial partnerships in medicine and medical research. We have also agreed on a follow-up with the Korean company 3H, which has a branch in PIK 2, Indonesia,” she said. Tri Ariguntar also participated in hands-on training for thyroid and abdominal ultrasound to enhance the competency of FKK UMJ lecturers. Besides strengthening academic capacity, the activity opened up opportunities for internationalisation through the development of educational and health industry cooperation. “The ultrasound training was the most memorable experience because it improved competence while opening up opportunities for industrial cooperation that supports the internationalisation of FKK UMJ. Following this activity, we will follow up on the meeting with the 3H industry to support education, especially in hospitals, and also follow up on plans for Korean students to continue their studies at FKK UMJ,” she explained. During KOADMEX 2026, the delegation had the opportunity to visit a health technology exhibition showcasing various innovations, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), medical robotics, digital-based diagnostic systems, medical imaging technology, telemedicine, and data-driven health solutions. Various health technology companies, research institutions, and health organisations from several countries exhibited innovations supporting the transformation of global health services. The delegation also participated in the Global Conference Medical Training Programme for Overseas Healthcare Professionals, which featured international experts discussing developments in healthcare professional education, medical technology innovation, strengthening health service systems, and opportunities for cross-country research collaboration. The forum served as a platform to broaden academic insights while building strategic partnerships between educational institutions and healthcare facilities at the international level. As part of the series of activities, the delegation carried out an International Community Service with the theme of Health Education and Preventive Health Screening. This community service activity focused on promotive and preventive education as well as health checks for elderly people visiting the Indonesian booth, aiming to improve health literacy and early detection of disease risk factors. FKK UMJ’s participation in KOADMEX 2026 opened up opportunities to strengthen international cooperation in education, research, and health technology development. The activity also strengthened academic networks between Indonesia, South Korea, and various participating countries. FKK UMJ participated in this activity alongside the Faculty of Medicine at Hasanuddin University (UNHAS), the Faculty of Medicine at Universitas Muslim Indonesia (UMI), the Faculty of Medicine at Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar, the Faculty of Medicine at Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto, and the Faculty of Medicine at Universitas Muhammadiyah Palangkaraya as part of the Indonesian medical faculty delegation. The forum, facilitated by South Korea’s K-Medi Hub, strengthened international networks while opening up opportunities for collaboration in medical education, research, health services, and digital-based medical technology.
