Referring to the Unified Global Hijri Calendar (KHGT) used by Muhammadiyah, 1 Ramadan 1448 H, or the start of the 202_ Ramadan fast, falls on Monday, 8 February 2027. This determination serves as a reference for Muhammadiyah members in performing their Ramadan observances through to Eid al-Fitr 1448 H.

In contrast to Muhammadiyah, the Indonesian government has not yet officially determined the start of Ramadan 2027. The government, through the Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag), will later determine the beginning of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr through the ‘isbat’ session.

Muhammadiyah has also set the date for Eid al-Fitr 2027. Based on the KHGT, 1 Syawal 1448 H, or Eid al-Fitr, falls on Tuesday, 9 March 2027. With this determination, Ramadan 2027 according to the Muhammadiyah calendar begins on 8 February and ends on 8 March 2027. The following day, Muslims enter 1 Syawal 1448 H.

Government Has Not Yet Determined Ramadan 2027

Meanwhile, the government, through the Ministry of Religious Affairs, has not yet established the official dates for the start of Ramadan or Eid al-Fitr 1448 H. The government will use the ‘hisab’ and ‘rukyatul hilal’ mechanisms, which will then be discussed in the ‘isbat’ session to determine the start of Ramadan.

“The government, through the Ministry of Religious Affairs, determines the start of Ramadan using the hisab and rukyatul hilal mechanisms, which are then discussed in the Isbat Session. As Ramadan 1448 H is still several months away, the government has not yet issued a final decision regarding the 2027 fast,” as reported by Antara.

Consequently, 8 February 2027 as 1 Ramadan 1448 H and 9 March 2027 as Eid al-Fitr 1448 H are dates based on the Muhammadiyah calendar. The official dates set by the government are still awaiting the results of the Ministry of Religious Affairs’ isbat session.
