Muhammadiyah sets criteria for president
BENGKULU: Muhammadiyah, the second largest Muslim organization
in the country, outlined on Thursday its criteria for the next
president.
Muhammadiyah chairman Ahmad Syafii Maarif said that a
president must be intelligent, not corrupt, and have a strong
commitment to maintaining the country's unity.
"But we will not dribble the ball ... we're not a political
party," he said.
Syafii also said he supported the debate for presidential
candidates to allow the public to evaluate their vision and
mission.--Antara
